#62: Masque of the Red Death

Another for my friend Neda, in the Edgar Allan Poe series. This one is based on the short story "The Masque of the Red Death" - if you haven't read it, read it! I started this out by painting an undercoat of crimson, then another coat of black, then applying the circular "chain of blood" effect before creating the central skull with horrible, bloody-bandaged eyes. The nostrils and mouth are scraped away with a palette knife. Maybe the most effective yet. Next will likely be "The Fall of the House of Usher" - a favorite of mine.
